Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan#HEISEIandJapan vol.4: For people around the world, #anime and #manga immediately come to mind when thinking about Japan, especially as titles have been transl...ated into so many languages and displayed in countless local bookstores and libraries. Even “cosplay” has become a universal language. https://japonismes.org/…/%E3%80%8C%E3%82%AD%E3%83%A3%E3%83%… People are crazy about these characters born in Japan, but did you know that some of these icons are making great contributions in the real world? Soccer manga & anime star #CaptainTsubasa is the top “player” in that field! The Captain Tsubasa manga series started in the 1980s, which was soon made into an anime series. During the Heisei era, the show was broadcast all over the world, gaining fans among children, adults, and even professional soccer players. https://www.mofa.go.jp/announce/announce/2004/10/1026-2.html https://www.mofa.go.jp/mofaj/area/iraq/renraku_j_0412a.html In 2004, Captain Tsubasa cooperated in #JSDF reconstruction operations in Samawah, Iraq, driving a water truck that brought not only water, but also smiles to local children. https://www.jica.go.jp/…/c8h0vm0000a3i…/activity03_14_01.pdf In 2016, he became a garbage man in Sudan as part of a Japan International Cooperation Agency - JICA project for attracting interest in environmental issues and helping to understand the importance of garbage collection problems. Last but not least, Captain Tsubasa brings hope to Syrian refugee children. Syrian students in Japan translated the manga comic and those books have been distributed to the children of Syrian refugees to inspire their hopes and dreams. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39801464 Through these efforts, Captain Tsubasa has become the most famous soccer player in the world! Likewise, manga and anime have become a universal language during the #Heisei era. Japan’s unique international cooperation will continue in the new era #REIWA as well.
